Samsung E2121
The Samsung E2121 is the most recent addition to Samsung’s cheap sub-£50 handsets
Samsung’s recent line of budget mobile phones has provided a very cheap, if technically unspectacular, way into the mobile world for plenty of new mobile phone users.
At first look, one could assume that the E2121 continues the trend, but this phone comes with some nice additional features that set it far apart from its competitors.
The candy bar like form factor looks similar to the Samsung E1080 phone.
Made entirely in plastic, the Samsung E2121′s exterior has obviously been made very cheap, but just like Samsung’s other low-cost phones, it hasn’t resulted in any loss of durability or quality.
At an overall weight of 74g, it’s not a heavyweight phone, but the 15mm thickness gives it a great quality grip and feels very nice in hand. The texture of the casing also feels good and gives a good grip
E2121′s plastic and rubber casing isn’t very stylish to look at, but it does serve a very practical purpose when it comes to the excellent key-mat.
The E2121 includes an impressive amount of functionality. Dedicated music controls are surely an indication of the phone’s main selling point.
This is a music playing mobile for thousands of people out there, who can’t afford an iPhone or iPod touch.
The MicroSD card support (up to 2GB) is on hand to further support the E2121′s audio potential, although the lack of 3.5mm headphone jack connection does seem like a drawback to some. Low cost does after all come with a price.
Unlike most other cheap handsets, the Samsung E2121 is capable of going online to surf the internet and check mails. There’s no 3G connection support, so don’t expect your surfing to be super-fast.
The E2121 also includes a small camera (0.3MP, it’s of the VGA variety, so it’s only good for taking photos to send via MMS messages or similar.
With it’s Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery talk time is specified at 10 hours with 560 hours standby time.
